I have a 97 silverado and I am wanting both high and low beams on when switched to high beams I know that there is some kind of relay that can be purched for around $20.00 but can prob. do it myself Does anyone know what I need and the wiring diag. for this?

Not to discourage you from this but... I think there is a reason not to do this. HEAT! High amperage! Tremendously could decrease bulb life.

Usually HLs have 3 wires. Hi-lo-ground. Determine which is which. Once you identify take a relay and do the following.

86 hi

85 ground

30 fused 12v

87 lo beam

87a n/a

Do this for each bulb. Voila.

Someone pass me that bottle.

RufNUSD brings up a good point- heat is definitely a consideration. I know some trucks came with sealed beams and others came with composite headlights. Which do you have? If you have the sealed beams, this is not a good idea, but if you have the composite headlighs with replacable bulbs, give it a go. Just hook it up how RufNUSD said.

I have done this, works great, you only have to do it on one side, doesn't matter which, and both sides will light up.

Does yours have daytime running lights also what kind of vehicle did you do this on?
