I've been doing remote starts for a while and never had this problem till recently with 2 different vehicles. The crimestopper R/S comes with the smart tach sensing. Therefore i never hook up the tach wire. I have a 98 Nissan Sentra & a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am SE. Sometimes they start right up....& sometimes they just crank but never start? Crimestopper tells me I need to get them back and hook up the tach wire? Used the same remote start for 2 yrs now and never had this problem? Anyone have any comments? Please Help....    Thank You

Definitely sounds like a tach problem to me. Sometimes the voltage sensing ( tachless mode ) doesn't work very well when the battery is weak or if it's really cold outside. Stick with the tach mode and you will have even less problems with it than you do now with the tachless mode.

I install those all of the time, also. Never ran into the problem, but I think Jeff is right, just hook up the tach wire and that should take care of it.

I agree too.....I just installed one yesterday (RS 900 VI), and it didn't like the tachless feature too much (and it's extremely cold out). I programmed it for tach, and hooked up the tach wire, and haven't had a bad start yet.
