Anyone know how to by-pass the factory alarm in a 98 bug. I installed a remote start keyless entry system and everything works except once you remote start the car  the horn goes off and the car doesn't start. once you unlock the door it starts and runs fine.

Any ideas would be great... Thanks

Tony

You need to have the locks unlock then relock on those VWs. I just did one.

are you using a double pulse to unlock

everything i see says it disarms with unlock

first pulse should disarm so if you use your disarm wire from your alarm for first pulse you should be all set

The car is 5 speed and has a special sequence inorder for it to start. If you unlock the doors first the car thinks a door was opened or sends a door tigger pulse and doesn't allow the car the to start for safety reasons.

There is a PURPLE / white Ignition sense wire that you need to cut and install a relay to open the circuit during remote start. It appears to be in a tan or brown plug behind the driver dash panel. There are three plugs in what appears to be some module (likely the alarm module) It is the middle plug. The plugs face upward toward the roof. The module is basically behind the fuse box that is in the door jamb. If this is not enough detail, email me and I will send you a picture.

I am having the same problem.  I need to only disable the alarm.  Not unlock doors.   I do not want to unlock the doors.  Wil a single negative pulse from the starter work?  Where/what wire should I tap into?  Thanks
