Ok guys , i am not the bad guy here. I bought a car from an auction, as i do 20x's a month, and this 1 happened to come with a real nice Kenwood cd player that says code on. It's the new 1 with sirius, mp-3 its a kdc-x659. I at one time could de-code the older 1's, but this new 1 is killing me it would be the only mp-3 deck i have and i really want to use it. Anyone got any suggestions?I heard that the e-proms in the newer deck make it hard to do due to the fact that they are cheaper and junkier than the old 1's so they burn out and will not go into tech coding procedure.

Actually the new ones are a little better. They decode the same way, you just need the right button combo.

Is it the same as the old masks? button combo i mean? sounds like u have done it before, have u done 1 this new?

What exactly are you trying to do? If all you need is the password then use a kenwood remote and enter KCAR as the code. This can only be done with the remote.

I myself have wondered how the service technicians clear the security code when I've sent my unit in for service. I always have it set to on, and when I get it back, it's always off.

*caution- vent session beyond this point* Ughhh. I hate the Kenwood flip-face models. I have an 817 from a few years ago. I bought it on sale as a display model from Tweeter while I was home on leave from the military. Luckily I got the three year extended warranty, and have had to send it off three times for repair (display cuts out, unit magically powers itself down, or I remove the faceplate only to come back to a closed unit with a broken mechanism). According to Tweeter, their lemon policy only applies if you have the same problem four times during the extended period. I wish I knew this before I fixed the problems once myself.

Yah thats the code , but apperantly you dont know the other important step before hand, and yes thats all i was asking auex.

I haven't had to do it in about 3 years, and I know there is a little more then just using the remote. But if I had to do it again I would remember.
