oh Im sorry its a generic question....hummmm...

first I would pick the HU....I just feel thats the first thing to get...the control center...:-)...about a 250-350

then i would say a Subwoofer....for bass considering my factor speakers are working...otherwise the speakers second if not first :-)...but a sub for about 150-200 bucks

then  I would pick up some new mids and highs....about 150 each set or maybe a compent set....200 bucks

then two amps...about 300.00 for the two or one...Might have to look on Ebay$1000.00 to spend on stereo system -- posted image.

I would start with a good head unit first. Because that will allow you to control your amps and so forth.

It does matter what type of car for your budget. First is definately an alarm and HU, second would either be bass or mids and highs, then mid/high amp, then misc accessories such as caps, batteries, etc...

I agree with auex and the rest get the head unit first, make them invest in an alarm ,go for a decent pair of speakers and see where the budget goes.

go for a decent pioneer or alpine hu then get some inside speakers because the aftermarket hu will usaully blow your stock insides after a while. Then go for some decent subs kickers are long lasting and find a good amp for their rms power. If you want to build a free air set up get the pionneer free air subs that are pretty good for what they cost. You can just get a piece of mdf and mount these speakers right into it the pioneers will sound good but make sure to have enough power for them never underpower them cause then you wont get bass. If there is something left in ur budget go get a battery or a cap whichever u need the most.

Single shiva sub would only run you 120 from adire, dont be wary from the price and think its cheap. they are darn good subs.

Hit ebay and shop around.  just stay away from audiobling-aka audiobahn.

-first HU- stockers suck.

-Alarm- no reason why you shouldnt have one.
-Amp and sub- without some lows music really isnt music.
-Component set and amp to power- MB Quart, CDT Audio, Focal, Moral, JL audio...some of the best, this is where you want to spend your money. Buy one good set that you like the sound of, and you'll be happy for a long time.

Also make sure that your electrical system can handle the draws.  If it cant, you might have to get a bigger battery or alt.  Caps really dont help if the system is draining everything else.

I need quality equipment, feel free to donate.
