like to say this is an excellant site i've stumbled upon first.

i've just purchased a 2000 dodge dakota with an already installed astrostart series 1000 remote engine starter ( i guess 1998-99 year made). i've been to the astrostart site and all they'll supply is the user manual. so i went to a dealer in my city and they have no install/programing instructions that old. they did give me some programing tables for a newer model but i don't think i should try them incase it screws up my original settings. i'm worried i might not be able to figure out the old setting proceedures if i experiment with the new ones. all i'd like to do is raise my engine runtime from an already too low 4 minutes to 18 minutes. any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately that model does not have the ability to chage the runtime via the transmitter.
Set dipswitches to the following:
1. OFF
2. ON
3. OFF
4. OFF (ON if you have a Diesel)
5. DOESNT MATTER
6. DOESNT MATTER
For 18 minutes:
7. ON
8. OFF
For 8 Minutes:
7. OFF
8. OFF
Once the dipswitches are set, press the brakes to save the changes. You must set all of the dipswitches correctly. The LED will flash 2 times to confirm that the changes were saved.

Thanks very much for the dipswitch settings jrilla. I know it's been awhile since you gave them to me but I didn't feel like lying under my dashboard in -35 temps to adjust the settings. I now have an 18 minute runtime instead of 8 which better suits the climate I live in.AstroStart engine runtime settings? -- posted image.

I also have a astrostart series 1000 remote starter in a 94 dodge ram 1500..Recently while hooking up trailer lights it erased..I used an install manual to set dip switches from another model and now when I hit "start" it goes into what I think is panic mode (horn blows and lights flash for like 5 sec.)....Anyone have dip settings for this model?I have searched for 3 days and cannot find any...It only has 8 dip switches on it    ty all
