hi i have a 03 trailblazer ext north face edition. i want to put a remote start/alarm on my suv. What kind of bypass do i need to install this setup and where? Can I take out the factory alarm? I kinda don't want to leave the factory alarm in there, but if i have to i will. I want a fresh start so the factory alarm and the aftermarket alarm won't interfer with each other in the long run.

You can't remove the factory alarm. It would be better to supplement it with an aftermarket alarm. You will require modules for the the door locks/factory alarm and for GM's Passlock II system. You can use the outputs of the alarm/starter unit to activate the door locks through the use of an interface module which will in turn arm and disarm the factory alarm.

At any local best buy, circut city, local install shop. Most of the time it better for the shop to install the alarm due to warranty issues. I would go and ask a local shop for prices.

You should seriously try to obtain one of these modules locally incase you need warranty. There is a module called the GM DATA ALL or GMDAA that will do everything you need it to. I am not sure who makes it though.

Dei makes the bypass for the lock, but at least here at best buy we have been having a hard time getting them, I've called DEI for two different customers and they said they would send them and a month later we still didn't get them and all we had was pissed customers.

When installing the bypas module for the locks, make sure that you connect the data wire LAST as per instructions. We worked on one of those vehicles last week and the modules made the installation a breeze !!
