Hello all...

After installing my DVD / TV system it dawned on me that I'll want to use it while camping at the track this year and well starting the truck all the time will get annoying... so... that brought me to the thought of wanting to be able to plug the truck in and forget about it...

So then I thought... hmmm what would I use to do that... and then I thought... HEY!!! 12volt.com will know...

So what do I need to set up my truck to accept and covert a regular 120v line????

What Voltage does the DVD TV use? Motorhomes must have some gizmo like this.

I'm not sure on what you are asking but...if you are talking about powering up a dvd player you can go pick up a power converter and that will do just fine. Just make sure you have enough power to operate whatever you are trying to power up.

Sorry I will explain better... the DVD / TV I installed is the kenwood KVT911-DVD indash system... I want to be able to run the electrical system of my truck, including the indash unit, without the engine running and having to worry about draining my battery...

So basically... just like a RV... get to where I'm going... plug the truck in and no worries... I also see this setup at car audio shows...

Oh, I get it. Instead of a hardwire, why not just use something like this: http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productid=893&catalogId=10101&langId=-1&storeId=10101

You can probably find something cheaper on ebay.

Hmmm well I have trickle chargers.... is that all I'd need to do?

If you have chargers, that's what I'd do. Those components don't draw all that much. I think with a 10 amp charger or maybe even less you'd be fine.
