Ok, just a few quick questions before I start
(installing a Bulldog Security RS-122 Remote Start into
a 1993 Taurus):
Bulldog RS-122 Install Manual
QUESTION 1.
For the ACCESSORY /HEATER motor wires, it says if I
have 2 motor wires (which I do) to connect the WHITE/ black
from the module to both of these wires. Can
I just strip back each of the two wires, and "thread"
them both? Just curious if the 2 wires are not allowed
to touch, and you have to access them in two different
spots, or if this is ok?
EDIT: I called Bulldog, and asked the same question.
The guy said to only use the grey / YELLOW wire, and not
the other BLACK/ green. I did as he said, and the a/c
does not come on when remote started. So I guess I have
to use both?
QUESTION 2.
For the tach wire, it says it's a tan / YELLOW wire
at the ignition harness, or at the coil. I was trying
to find it in the ignition harness, but couldn't.
Should it be going into the rectangle piece that has
all of the constant, start, and accessory wires?
In this car, I don't really see wires coming from
where you put the key in (like I have in other cars).
Any hints? Do I have to take off the steering wheel
plastic cover?
Thanks!

Here's a wiring diagram that I have: check to see if this is what you have:

|       ITEM      |     WIRE COLOR     |POL|       WIRE LOCATION        |

|              12V|yellow              |+  |ignition harness            |
|          STARTER|WHITE/ pink          |+  |ignition harness            |

|     POWER UNLOCK|pink/green          |*2 |either kick                 |
|       LOCK MOTOR|pink/black          |   |drivers door harness        |

|     DOOR TRIGGER|BLACK/ blue          |+  |either kick                 |
| DOME SUPERVISION|use door trigger    |   |                            |
|  TRUNK/HATCH PIN|                    |   |                            |
|TRNK/HTCH RELEASE|gray/red            |+  |at release switch           |
|       TACHOMETER|tan / YELLOW *1       |   |ignition coil *1            |
|       BRAKE WIRE|RED / lt. green       |+  |at brake switch             |
|     HORN TRIGGER|yellow/lt. green    |-  |steering column             |

Ok, that's exactly the wires that my chart shows.
I was using the Bulldog Wiring Chart.
Here's the update...I don't know if I'm color blind,
or if all of our charts are wrong. Here's what happened:
1. I connected the accessory wire to the grey / YELLOW as Bulldog instructed...nothing happened.
2. I called them back, and then guy said to try the
BLACK/ green wire. I tried that, nothing happened.
3. I even tried using both of these (like the manual
said, but unlike bulldog techs said), and that didn't work either.
Hmmm...then I see 2 other wires in the harness that
could also slightly resemble "grey / YELLOW", although
the yellow part is darker than the one I tried in #1.
So I tried one of them anyway, and lo and behold, the a/c
came on. So, I tried the other, and it worked, too.
So now what do I do? Are those the actual wires that I'm
supposed to be using? I just hope it's not the wrong
wire, but it works anyway. By the way, all 4 wires I've
spoke of showed 12v+ in the RUN position. None showed
12v+ in the OFF position. And only the BLACK/ green
showed 12v+ in the ACC position. Ay caramba!
Now I'm starting to think the 1st grey / YELLOW wire I
tried could be the tach wire that I can't find. I
saw the tan / YELLOW wire by the distributor, and it looks
like a different shade (and size) from this wire, but I'm not sure.
I was unable to test it with a DMM, but they said it
would be in the same spot, and it's not any of the
others.
Ok, I've blabbed enough.
1. Should I just use 1 of these 2 new "grey / YELLOW" wires?
2. Is the original "grey / YELLOW" the "tan / YELLOW" I'm looking for? remote start in a '92 Taurus -- posted image.

Ok, here's a crappy picture of the ignition harness:
The grey / YELLOW is the wire I tried first but didn't work.
Could this be tach? I know, I have to test it:)
The BLACK/ green I tried second but didn't work is not in the picture.
The RED / light green is the ignition. That's fine.
The two wires labeled grey/"yellow" are the ones that
worked for the a/c (when I used them alone).

I have also run into some FORDS that required all three GRAY / YELLOW wires to be hooked up in order for the ACC to work properly. Have you tried that ?

Something I found ODD about Remot start systems, the few I've used, have all said ACC = AC/Heater. But on every car I've worked on, ACC = Radio, Cig Lighter, and Sometimes Windws, IGN#1 or +12 at "ON" position has been where I have found my AC/Heater - 5 out of 5 Times.

Hmmm....well, no...I didn't try all 3 gray / YELLOW wires (man, that would be tough...it's so tight in there remote start in a '92 Taurus -- posted image.).

1.  Anywho, when I tried 1 of the 2 other gray / YELLOW wires, it worked.

Is that ok?  I'm just afraid that if I leave it, and it's not really
the correct wire, I'll be killing something without knowing it.  Can you just go with what works, so to speak?

cdaw:  yea, it's a bit confusing with ACC.  They say to use the wire that

shows 12v+ in the RUN position, but that was the wire that didn't work.

2.  They say the tan / YELLOW tach is in this same spot?  Is it in the picture

that I have above, or is that not the ignition harness?

Thanks guys.

Hmm, I just saw this part from your post above.  What's the DIS module?  I guess it's still inside the engine bay?

I called back Bulldog.  This guy said (different answer from every person) to connect 2 grey / YELLOWs and 1 BLACK/ green, and I'll be good to go.

I told him that I connected 1 of the three grey / YELLOWs, and it worked, and he said that's fine, too.  Hmmm, is he right?

I just don't want to drain or strain anything that shouldn't get strained.
