I know I just started building the sub enclosure out of MDF now I am contiplating on if I want to do fiberglass instead. Only thing I have heard negatively about fiberglass is that it resonates the sound too much. Just wondering if any of you have come across that problem or not

1/2" of fibreglass is easily as strong as 3/4" of mdf. It however like glass and plexiglass is a highly acoustic reflective surface and should have some kind of dampening on it. A sprayable sound deadener or vehicle undercoating will work for this. A light amount of polyfill also may help out.

Yea most of the time people doing Fiberglass enclosures just glass the front part of it, and use MDF for all the other sides.

Ok thnks for that input guys, but I heard of people using dynamat in the enclosure. I heard a system that had that setup and it sounded like crap. But people tell me that the dynamat is better than using the polyfill.

I would def do glass if u want to, mostly becauseu will do it sometime if u want to right now. In my glass box i sprayed a Wal-Mart truck bed liner on the inside and i guess it helped because it sounds amazing.
dream it, build it, fiberglass it
