kicker vetn help

hey folks, Im building a custom box for a vw cabrio and Im going to make it so the truck floor will just looked raise up about 7 inches. Im doing this so I can still get to the sparetire, but ok to the problem. I need to know how to make a vent, I know I just cut a slit about 9 inches but is that all. I just make a box thats about 2c ft. and cut a slit in the box? or is there more to it. and Im thinking about inverting the sub so its firing into the box.Do you know Spankyjohnson? He's a Big man. If you are just starting out, yes, sealed enclosures are far easier to build.  If you have experience building enclosures, then tackling a ported design is the next step up in difficulty.  Building the "box" is easy, mind you, it's the "getting it to sound right" part that is hard!  :)  A Kicker L7 and an Alpine type S are pretty different in sound, actually.  The Alpine has far better SQ, the Kicker is more of an SPL pounder.  Depends on what you're after I guess.  A 2.0 CUFT sealed enclosure is optimum for the Kicker, or about a 2.5 CUFT ported.
