I just finished installing a remote start in a 99 Sunfire and the radio won't go out when the thing shuts down. Anyone have any ideas?
I hooked up the door trigger wires because it's a standard trans. should'nt this do it?

Does it go off a few seconds after the door is shut? Those are tied into the door trigger and don't go off until thedoor is open usually.

you have to set up a relay that pulses the door trigger when the remote starter shuts down, your car has a RAT system which keeps your radio on for 15-20 mins after car is shut down, unless you open a door.

Just pulsing the door trigger when the system shuts down will disable the remote starter since it is a standard transmission.
Doing the following should work.
Cut the lt. GREEN/ black drivers door trigger. Meter the wire to find which side goes to the door latch and which side goes to the bcm. Insert a diode with the stripe side facing the door latch. Connect the door trigger input from the remote start between the door latch and the diode, and connect the rearm wire from the remote start between the diode and the bcm side of the lt. GREEN/ black door trigger wire. The RS will then pulse the door trigger when the remote start shuts down and will turn off the radio. The diode will block the (-) pulse from going to the door trigger input on the remote start allowing the remote start to still work.
