200 watt head unit!?

I was sifting through Future Shop's website and they were advertising a Pioneer DEH-1600 that supposedly had 200 watts. It has Mosfet power, which does make it sound a lot better, but I don't know if a small deck can handle that much power. Either I've been in a cave all these years or what they are trying to say is the unit is 50watts max x 4 channels . They leave out a lot of specifics about the power. I'm guessing its not possible to pump 200 REAL watts off a cheap head unit. What are you two cents?

That radio has a power output of 22 watts rms by four and 50 watts max by 4. This radio is extremely loud and clean though it has no 50 watts by four !!

yea, all head units out there display their peak power per channel. I dont know why, i guess its a marketing decision. If they flash 50x4 people are gonna think they're getting alot of power. When, in all actuality you are only getting about half of that. Think of it in terms of amplifiers man. SURE, that amp can do 1600 watts, for like half a second, then its back down to 800... just like the radios. :) just my 2 cents.1990 Honda Civic HB:

Also it should really be 50 watts divided by four channels. this is realy about what your are getting RMS (50 divided by four which is about 12.5 watts (give or take 2 or 3)RMS. Even the 22 watts by four channels is a lie. Alpine's new head-units are using the new standard which most manufactures are adopting and should be a little bit more accurate.
