Tach Signal

just wondering installing a micro startc2003 into a '84 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4; and it says to install the PURPLE / white wire to the tach. Well on the vehicle wiring diagram from this website it says the white wire at the coil. But in the directions for the alarm/remote start it says "do not connect the PURPLE / white wire to a tachless engine monitor; and/or directly to a 12V source."So how could I connect this to the tach if there is no tach in the truck. Also if the wire is on the white wire on the coil, and you try to remote start it; it cranks once, stops, then cranks another time, only starting it the second time. But shouldn't there be another alternative to wiring in this tach source, because not all vehicles have tachs in them.. Thanks

Just connect the tach wire off the remote start to the WHITE wire at the coil and set the system to read a tach signal. The unit is probably capable of being used in tachless mode so it's just warning you that you can't have the tach wire on the remote starter attached to a tach source if your using tachless mode.Jeff

I have tried programming the brain to learn the tach signal, but it doesn't beep saying that it has confirmed it. I can program everything else, but that is the only one that doesn't flash/beep or nothing..

see if the alarm has a voltage sense or low voltage reference feature to do an engine check instead of the tach wire.

yes it is fuel injected; and I have found the right tach wire. But when you hit the remote start button it cranks, stops, cranks then starts; and I have tried programming the brain, but it doesn't flash the parking lights and the led to confirm tach learning..

Do you think that it is the right wire becuase the led light shows that is learned it or becuase you tested it if a DMM. The only other thngs I can think of is to try turning the key to the on postion and then trying to remote start it. If it starts when you do this then you do not have all the ignition wires powered up that you need. Another thing is to try going to the injector. Just use one of the wires that chages colors on each injector as you tach. If all that does not work then redo your ground to the kick if it is not already there. The last thing I can sugest is to check the hood pin. I don't know what you are using for that or if you are even using one but sometime the movement from the engine starting will trigger that. This is about all I can think of that might be related to something like that but just make sure you hooked up the wires to what you ment to hook them up to. Good luck with that and let us know what you find out.
