i want to wire 2 DVC subs to a single mono amp. I have gotten the witing diagrams and everything, but my question is, will this cut in half the power from my anmp? if i have 2 2ohm DVS subs, and wire them right, i can get a 2 ohm load to the amp, but if it is a 500 RMS watt at 2 ohm amp, will it only give 250 watts to each of the subs? thanks for any help.

if the subs are DVC, and 4 ohms per coil, and the amp is single-channel, you cannot get a 2 ohm load.

you'll have to run the voice coils in paralle, and the subs in series, for a 4-ohm load on the amp.

If the subs are 2 ohm DVC, go to this site: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard/index.asp?WoofQty=2+woofers&WoofImp=Dual+Voice+Coil+-+2+ohms+x+2&image.x=16&image.y=14

Wiring option 2 will show you the correct way to configure for a 2 ohm amp. And yes, running 2 subs from a mono channel 500 amp will effectively give you 250 watts per sub

umm correct me if I am wrong but arent #1 and #2 the same??? the pos and neg are kinda confusing are the terminals side by side or up and down??

They are different because the (-) of each woofers are going to each other and the (+) are also going to each other on option 1 ( SERIES ) and the Option 2 is the opposite ( PARALLEL ).

as I was saying you can't do this if the subs are 4 ohms PER voice-coil. He said 2-ohm DVC, which could mean 2/8 (4 per) or 2 per. he wasn't very clear on that.

Yes if they are 2 ohms per coil you can easily get a 2 ohm load by wiring the sub VC's in series, then the subs in parallel.

Jeff, from Velocity motors...Umm I see the wiring on the sides now....but don't you mean #1 is Parallel, #2 is series/parallel, and #3 is series.

Thanks for all the help guys. My other question would be, which is better to power 2 subs, a 2 channel amp, or a mono amp? any reasons? thanks
