I bought a viper 1200.1 and a viper 500.4...to make a long story short, i sent the 500.4 into directed for service, and they sent me a directed 4500 4 channel amp back because they dont make the viper anymore...i want my amps to match when i build my system.  My question is, is there a difference in the two?  I want to sell one of the amps and get a matching amp.  sell the viper mono, or sell the directed 4 channel?  Im ticked because i spent more money to get the vipers in the first place, but if they dont make them anymore, then whats the point!  what should i do?

Why do you need them to match?  If it's for looks, then yes, you'll have to do whatever your budget will allow to get a matching set (and if the Viper series is no longer manufactured, then you'll have to dump your other one.)  If it's for matching the sound quality, I would bet you will hear no difference.

I want to match for looks...im not sure if there is a difference between the amps or not because they all come from directed, but they might have different internal components. ne one out there that can verify that?

Contact Directed again and tell them what they have done to you.  Maybe they will swap your other Viper for the newer model too.

Ive decided i like the vipers better so i am selling/trading my directed 600/4. it is a 2003 edition and i only want enough money for it to get the 2003 edition 500.4 viperthe numbers are different, the the amps auctually put out the same amount of power.  As you might guess, i would trade even for one.

Hopefully someone out there can help!
