Hey

I have a kicker a L5 4ohm dvc sub. The amp i have is 300rmsx2 2ohm stereo stable and 400rms 4ohm mono stable. Is this combo going to work if i simply bridge the amp to the sub(subs already wired in a factory kicker box)? I don't get this ohm stuff

thx

Not a good match.  If you bridge your amp, it needs a 4-ohm load.  A DVC sub has two 4-ohm coils.  Both of these must be hooked up.  If you connect the two coils in parallel (both + to the amp + and both - to the amp -) then you will put a 2-ohm load on the amp = max smoke.  If you connect the sub colis in series (on + to amp +, that - to the other sub +, other sub - to amp -) the amp will be very happy as you have now given it an eight-ohm load, but you will probably not be too happy as the amp will now only deliver about 150-200 watts.

You either need a DVC 2-ohm sub, or you need an amp capable of driving into a 2-ohm mono load.

o yea heres the other thing-i have no clue how the sub is wired in the box-i bought it already in a kicker factory box. The sub is hooked up to the amp and plays and the amp hasn't blown up yet so i'm guessing its getting that 8ohm load you talked about
