mounting sub backwards?

Does it effect sound quality when mounting a sub backwards in a ported box? I also heard that if you do mount it backwards then you have to run the postive from the sub to the neg. on the amp and the neg. on sub to the positive on the amp.  Thanks.

Does it effect SQ?  Yes.  Does it effect SPL?  No.  Should it be wired in reverse polarity?  Yes, since you are now "listening" to the back side of the speaker. 

Be sure the enclosure is properly designed for this application.  You can't just take a "standard" enclosure and turn the sub around (in most cases.)  You need to realize the enclosure size has been increased by the volume inside the woofer cone (as well as the increase in volume normally assumed as being taken up by the magnet structure etc. which is no longer in the enclosure.)

prett much all that does is make the speakers require less air space   problems get rid of the ported box

all ur doing is turning the sub woofer around? or did u mean wiring it differently?

of course if u wire it backwards. u gotta change the wiring to the amp.

unless ur talking about taking the sub woofer and physcally turning it around so it would face inside the box?
