Hello all, I am trying to decide on which system to purchase. I most likely am going with (4)10" subs & (2) mono or 2-chan amps for the subs of whatever brand it is. I have narrowed it down to Audiobahn & Kicker. JL Audio is very good but will not fit in the esthetics of the project I am currently working on. I am not going for a competition level system, just some serious thumping.

Choice One:

4 - Kicker Solo Barics S10L7 10" Subs (2 Ohm)
2 - Kicker KX500.2 2CH. Amps

Choice Two:

4 - AUDIOBAHN AW1006T or Alum10Q Subs
2 - AUDIOBAHN A8002T 2-Ch Amps or A8000T Mono Amps

I have all 4 guage wiring & 2 Stinger caps. The box is ported fiberglass, but I am not against re-doing in the box. I am knowledgable in just about everything except subs & amps =) Please help!

Thanks in advance

Change of subs = change of box. It is also best that only one amp be used to power the subs. What on earth are you going for that requires the use of 4 subs? How do you plan on properly powering them, ie: small alternator syndrome. Send some more info for us as to the needs and capabilities of the system and what it is going into.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

I wouldnt even think twice about it. If you want serious thumping than go with the Kicker gear. If it matters to you, in most places you could compete with that system if you want to.

This system is for an Expedition with 3 batteries (one yellow top is dedicated to these amps) with a 160a alternator with battery isolator. As far as needs and capabilities, please ask specific questions thanks.

I would say go for the Kickers, I would take Kicker over Audiobahn anyday if that's the only two choices that I have.  I don't think you are matching up the subs to the correct amps though, I couldn't find any info on the KX500.2 but I found info on the KX550.5 and it's only putting out 275x2 at 2 ohm. According to kickers website the Solo Barics S10L7 can handle 600 watts rms a piece. You might want to think about picking up 2 KX1200.1's instead to go with the 4 10's. It's stable down to 1 ohm and puts out 1200 watts which is what your subs are rated for.  You also might want think about picking up a pair  S12L7's and the KX1200.1 instead of the 4 10's and the 2 - Kicker KX500.2's. That should bump if you build the correct enclosure for it.

ksin291: thanks for the info. I have a question. If I purchase the KX1200.1 which only has 1 mono out. And connect (2) 2 Ohm speakers  rated @ 600W each, wont that give me 1200w to both speakers since (2) 2 Ohms will step down to 1 ohm? How do I wire to get 4Ohm which I think will give me 600 watts? Thanks.

No it would give 600W to each speaker, the speakers split the load.

So, I do not have to do any parallel or series wiring trick?

Like Ravendarat straight parrellel and your good, it will hit extremely hard. Just make sure that you build the box right, sealed might be the way to go.
