First post ... I have a quick  ? on avic80 (combined w/7500dvd) does this unit display the elevation? After reading seems like it really does not show the mph as part of the screen or map.....

thanks jim

Well I was looking at the wrong screen.....It does show Estimated MPH but only in one of the status screens under the info tab........As for elevation ..It will not  show it....You would need a Topographic map...and this unit does not have a Topographic map on its DVD-Rom

Dragorus is correct. You can only see the MPH under the "information -> 3d status" screen. It's a bummer that you can't have it on the map like where the clock is.
I also wish that it would show the elevation. Through GPS you can get elevation, so a topo map isn't needed, but I guess Pioneer decided not to give us this feature (though a topo map would be really sweet, maybe in the near future?).

You know the DVD is DVD_9.......I tried to make a backup and theres is over 6 gigs of info.....Guess we gotta wait to get a dvd-9 dual layer dvd burner eh?.....Also just to let you know Pioneer has taken the lead in my opinion on navi...I have used em' all in the shop and seen most in action........I had the kenwood touchscreen setup......It was ok but not enough info on the disk........Pioneer has the most data on its disc....not even alpine can touch em....I have read somewhere that pioneer navi's have what's called C.U.E.  which you can supposedly sign up for but I have no idea where.....I saw the feature mentioned somewhere in the manual......I think the best improvement in the future for navigation is going to be auto update.....See our navi's have a built in memmory like a buffer....So imagine you are coming upon a traffic light that has been converted from a Circle into a 4 way light....Your nav thinks your going offroad lol....But with a simple feature of the unit constantly checking the stored map with the sat. signal it would detect the neww change through sat. and then display the corrected road on your screen. Kinda like dowlnloading the new picture....But after it leaves the screen it will be erased from memmory ...You follow me so far....That way people with older version of the DVD-Rom would not have to purchase the neww one which goes for like some rediculous price $400 I think.....

What do you think gtpsrock?
