You will need a periphial I know that is not spelled right but it sure does sound right. Your local car audio shop should carry these.

As far as I know they are not compatible.  The "A" in CHA-1214 indicates that the changer is an Alpine AI-NET changer.  The changers that are compatible with the Honda factory units are the lower cost, M-BUS Alpine changers designated as CHM-XXXX.

So unless you sell that Alpine and get an M-BUS model you can't use it without an Alpine HU (with AI-NET control).

CORRECTION:  It isn't that ALL AI-NET changers won't work but the 1214 won't.  There are SOME Alpine AI-NET changers that are "dual-bus" capable which are usually denoted with an "S" such as "CHA-SXXX" in the model number.  However even these require 2 separate adapters...  One is the Honda to M-Bus adapter and the other is the Alpine KCA-130B AI-NET to M-BUS adapter (which ONLY works on dual bus capable models, which the 1214 is not.)
