i am about to replace the head unit in my monte carlo. i am also going to add an amp and some subs. do i need to bypass the factory amp or can i just leave that amp to control my highs. in case i sound confusing i am putting the aftermarket amp on the subs. but i have been hearing things about the factory amp and aftermarket radios really not sounding good together. also should the pink wire in the ignition harness read 12v when the car is in acc and when it is running.

This is one of those vehicles that can be so confusing unlesss  you understand how it works. Keep it simple and use the amps with this harness, Metra part# GMOS-03. This harness will let you use the amps safely and give you a delayed accessory wire like the factory radio has. It will sound nice this way with the sub installed.

Check out this link to a prior thread to understand your vehicle a little better.
