Just to let you know,  a great sounding system is going to cost more than $1000 if you want to do it right.  But first thing is to make sure that you know the size of the door speakers and how much room you are willing to give up for the subs and amps in the trunk.  As far as specs goes, in the speakers best thing is to get component speakers with a 91db and up sensitivity.  Subs, for 2-12" subs 1000W each and a 91db and up sensitivity.  And the amps, you need one for the high frequencies, one for the mid freq., and one for the low freq.  And then you have to consider all of the amp wiring, distribution blocks, capacitors, speaker wiring, and maby even a high power alternator.  All of this will be way way more than 1000, but to do it right thats what it takes.  Good luck

Well, me personally, I LOVE pioneer and I have 2 TS-A6980Rs and I recemond the highly. The amp you can use for these is a pioneer GM-X572. And subs TS-W305C  they are 12" pioneers and they sound awsome.  And the amp for the subs, you can use GM-X962, one per sub.  For good prices, look on ebay.  I have got alot of stuff from there and have not had one problem.

I use the sam subs as Doughboy except mine are dvc and if you want something inexpensive they are definatly a good way to go, also for 6x9's that are gonna fit in your budget the pioneers would work as would a pair of kickers to match your front if you wanna spend a little more.

just so you kno the db sensitivity is nearly as important as the frequency response of component speakers or subs, sensitivity mearly means you need less amp gain for the level of sound, it doesnt make your amp better or more efficient, sensitivity is not the #1 factor in buying speakers
