My cousin has an s8l7 in a ported box to the dimensions in the instructions that came with the sub.  I am very impressed with the sound.  What I would like to know is how would the sound of the s8l7 in a sealed box compare to one in a ported box? (both at proper box volume) thanks

The ported box is more for SPL (louder bass) whereas the sealed box is more for sound quality (cleaner bass).

Ive always liked the sealed boxes but just leave room in the trunk or where ever you mount it for plenty of airflow

I have a 12" L5 solo baric in a sealed enclosure and it slams!! I personally like sealed boxes better..  But its your preference whether you want SQ or SPL!! Sealed = SQ Ported = SPL
