Hello all.  I have a 1998 Mitsubishi mirage and bought a Pioneer DEH-1600.  I installed it a few weeks ago and it was working fine.  I was not sure how to run the 12v constant wire though so I just connected a 8 guage cable with a 15amp fuse from the battery to the yellow wire on the harness.  IT worked fine except that I did a sloppy job connecting it to the battery.  The hook I used to connect it to the battery came loose and I lost all power.  (even the 12v acc).  I tried reconnecting it but that didnt work.  All fuses are in and are good.  I removed the stereo and tried a direct connect from under the hood.  I grounded the wire and placed both the constant 12v and the 12v ACC on the positive terminal and the stereo turned on.  But when I connected it back in the car nothing comes on.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Scott

get a digital meter and test for acc, constant and ground by the radio.  this is the quickest way to find out where the problem is.

Your car might have another fuse box under the hood, check those fuses. Also, did u check the fuse on the constant wire you ran into the car?

I did all that you said.  I found acc, and the wire that suppose to be constant isnt dishing out anything.  I used a ground that is a bult with a washer.  Thats why I ran the constant from the battery to the stereo with the fuse in between.  So total, there are 3 fuses for the radio.  The fuse in the car, the fuse on the stereo, and the fuse from the constant wire.  According to my manual, those are the only fuses and they are all ok. Do you have a suggestion as to how to run new wires except for the speaker wires?  That, I think, will be the best resolve.
Thanks,
Scott
