I have a simple question, well i hope its a simple question. I am making a dual 8" bandpass box for a project in my Co-op educational program. I have the speaker enclosures down no problem, my dilemma here is, does it make a huge difference what size the sealed front box part, the part that you can see into, the sealed part. Sorry for the redundancy, just trying to make it clear what i am talking about.

If it helps, enclosures for the subs is 0.42 cu. ft. each. And they are only little 100w DVC 4-Ohm subs.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot.

Are you talking about the size of the port holes themselves?

No, he is talking about the Front half. Most bandpass boxes come with a plexiglass front enclosure so you can see the woofers. that is the half he is referring to. I dont have an answer for you bud, but i figured i'd clear that up for you.

Ah, yes.  You are talking about building a 4th order bandpass enclosure (one ported chamber.)  The volume of the sealed portion will change the tuning of the enclosure just as much or more than the size of the port will.  You must calculate the proper size for the sealed chamber based on your driver(s).  Check this page (and do a search on the web for more info.)
