Unfortunately, you cannot control the level of brightness on your radio, it was not designed that way. It is designed to only dim the lights on the radio a certain degree when the lights are on. I understand what you mean by how confusing this may be, the radio manufacturers don't supply enough info to explain how their dimming circuits work, or how different vehicles have different lighting circuits. You can keep your radio hooked up the way it is now if you do not use your dimmer, but if you do you will have to get an illumination wire for the radio.

Eh, alright then. As of now, i will just leave the dimmer somewhere in the middle, that way the dash and HU are both about halfway lit, which is ok for me.

I'll be gettin an alpine in a few months anyways

Thanks again for the help
