A friend of mine had a really bad looking carpet on his truck, and wanted to dye it. So he talk to a guy at  where he works and the guy told him to ask  the guy who sells the chemicals to them( he works at a big car auction place and they have detailers to autobody guys to mechanics) and he sold him some vinyl and fabric paint. The paint didn't work that good on the carpet, but that was resolved.

The problem is that before he started painting the carpet, he left the spray cans on the truck while removing the seats and one of them hit one of the studs for the seats. As you can imagine it sprayed all over. I hit the driver side of the dash and the driver door.  I was able to remove the paint from the door and trim, and also from the truck paint with acetone. But it eats the dash trim (we tried on the back of the trim). As it is a diferent materialand color, looks like abs plastic.

Now my question is!  Or rather are!

Is there a product that will remove the paint without eating away at the plastic?  Or is there a place were he can buy all of those trim pieces? The truck is a 97 ram 1500(and I looked around on the junkjards and haven't found one truck like it. Also the ac control panel was painted and the letters are under the paint , and i have seen the trim in different colors but not the ac control panel.

Any help will be really apreciated.

I had a similar incident but with latex paint (paint can explosion) and it washed out of the plastics but the carpet is still pink... yes pink... any suggestions on that as well?
