Any suggestions on how to get it done?  It's a double-din, but I can't find a kit for it yet.

Shouldn't a standard VW pocket work just fine? Me thinks that it would.

You should PM Metra Tech (he works for metra) and he can probably find out if they carry it. Or check www.scosche.com or www.bestkits.com . But I think Rob (forbidden) is right. Unless there was a drastic interior redsign for those cars, it should almost be exact to the 2003 model. In which a current kit should be available for it.
Hope that helps

Metra  makes a pocket design for VW, remove double din radio and install pocket on the bottom. You will also need a plug an antenna adapter.

Pocket 88-00-9008

plug 70-9003
antenna adapter  40-VW53 if car has amplified antenna or 40-VW54 if not

Is up to the installer to test all wires with a DMM whenever possible.

Thank you Bnluis and you are 100% correct except for the antenna adapter. That is Metra part# 40-EU55. Also, you can use any snap in pocket you have in your bay. At Circuit City, you have the 88-00-9000 Toyota pocket, 80-9003 smart harness and the antenna adapter is special order. You can use a 40-EU10 if your not worried about AM reception which you do carry.
