OK, there's the problem. The RED lead is suppose to go to a 12 + and the other lead will have to go to a (-) GROUND, not the (+) output of the relay. The relay is only a (+) output on pin 30. So what you want to do is this:

Take the (+) lead of the inverter and attach it to a 12 volt SWITCHED wire under the dash which is a GREEN/ purple wire ( there are a couple of these, use either one ) and then take the ground wire and attach it to the chassis. Make sure that the spot you mount the ground wire to is free of dirt, grease, carpet and paint. With this set up you do not have to worry about truning on-off the system. The switched IGN will automatically do that for you so if you do forget to turn off the inverter, it will not drain your battery.

Hello,

just wanted to updated the thread and happy to report that I was a successful in installing the inverter. Jeff, is it ok to have the inverter wired to this ignition switch without having a fuse in the line or should I have added one? The inverter itself came with a 40a fuse, but I'm afraid of draining my batt. Also, the inverter powers on even though the ignition switch is off, is that normal? Thanks for everything.
