Greetings,

Ok, found a nice hackjob of an installation of an older Automate system in my 1990 Olds Toronado Trofeo.  Can't believe the quality, but I know from opinions and these forums that it's worth keeping around.

On the braibox, it's showing an FCC ID ending in DEI 435 and a small white sticker on one end that is smudged. I believe it's A707 or 707A from what I can make out.  The box has harness connectors on both ends, not one end and a side as in the newer versions.  In the midst of the box is also a sliding door to access a 4 dip switch portion of the circuit board.

Also finally located one of the world's worst valet switch installations, tucked up where no human could ever find it.

I'm in the process of rewiring and cleaning this up, but I can't locate which model it is to find a manual.  I've checked all the versions available at DEI, but they all are configured differently than this one.  I did read back through the forum's to see mentions of finding the FCC and other sticker info, and that once confirmed someone around here may have a copy in a PDF format or otherwise.  Local Dealers are mostly clueless as they started with the Viper series and never came near the AutoMate.

While the ID shows DEI 435, the manual isn't a match. And I'm sure it's AutoMate, as there's a few stickers on the windows as well as markings in the wiring area.

Any thoughts, ideas, confirmations and info appreciated!

If the alarm is really old then you may not be able to find an owners manual. You could probably get it from DEI's direct fax. Knowing when it was installed would help you there. The XXX7 number is the date code.

That's what I was afraid of, though I've found rumblings around the Net that this particular model does have a copy of the manual floating out there...  I believe at this early stage, DEI was just producing the Install/Owners manual instead of seperate documents as they appear to do now.  I'm not as worried about the Owners as I am the Installation so I can put this rig back in solid shape.  If I can get it re-installed cleanly and full yoperational, solve a transient power loss (I believe unrelated), then it's time to move up to a new model as most of the relays and actuators are really old.

I believe this was installed by the original owner, so my guess would've been around 1991.

And the DEI Direct Fax, haven't come across that # or any information on it - is that Dealer-only access or a faxback system that anyone can use to see what they may have?

Still having no luck finding the original manuals for this thing, anyone have a clue?

I figured out the DEI setup, rather strange you can jump into the DirectFAX files without a password?  But since I have no clue on the entire set available if anyone out there who IS in that system could either point me in the right direction to find this specific manual (This could be an Automate 1?) or has a copy I can get from them, it would be greatly appreciated.  Can't leave the dash hanging open too long, looks a mite fishy!
