what's a good amp for this sub? i want something that will push the sub to its fullest potential, yet i don't wanna push it too hard. for example say the best range for this sub is from 5-10watt then i wanna use about 7.5, im thinking about the JL 500/1, if i push taht amp to the max, would that amp be overdoing the sub? or not giving it enough? what do you think? thanks in advanced. give me ur feedback please.

That's an awesome monster sub.  JBL 1200.1 or Planet Audio APD or JL 1000/1 or PPI 1500.1.

The best one would be the one that you can afford good amp for 12 inch JL W7 -- posted image., but out of those listed my pick would be the JL 1000/1 it matches the w7 perfectly. All of the amps listed are solid amps though.

Planet Audio; awsome power and reasonable price.

I gotta go with the JBL. Its plenty of power for your sub, less money than the JL and, from my experience, far more reliable than Planet Audio. My company stopped carrying JBL and I thought it was a horrible desision because the amps were some of the best I have worked with.

The JBL is a bad call for this sub, the w7 is a dual 3 ohm sub and can only be wired to 1.5 or 6 ohms. Now I've heard that the JBL will go down to 1 ohm but on their website it only states that the amp is 2 ohm stable so you would be running under it's rated ohm load. The JL 1000/1 on the other hand will give you 1000 watts on loads between 1.5-4 ohm.  while the JL 1000/1 is not a cheap amp IMO it's worth every penny. I have a JL 500/1 that I absolutely love and I'm seriously considering upgrading to a 1000/1 to run another 12w6v2.
