I just got an Eclipse 8443 deck. I notice hanging off the back of it is a pretty long cord with a sealed box about the size of a pack of cigerettes, and its labeled:
"to prevent noise place this cord as far a way as possible form the antenna, speaker and signal cord".
I am not sure what this box is, ground loop isolator maybe? i dont know, but do you all normaly just tie this up somewhere under the dash?
Also do you normally hook up the dimmer, or does that not work too well? If you dont hook it up is it just full brightness? I assume the brightness is manually controllable anyways.....

It is a noise filter, thus keep it away from anything that plugs into your cd player. We do not normally use the orange / white illumination wire and everything is fine. Give it +12v from your ignition lead and see what it does, you may like it better one way or the other.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
