hey guys, today i unhooked my he2 and 401s amp because my subwoofer blew, and hooked up a kicker kx150.4 to my 4x10s and 3.5s. It sounds incredible with the car off, but as soon as its turned on i get static and a whine, its rpm related. I know there are filters of some sort applicable for my problem... any pointers? thanks

i had that same problem with my amp too. I just hooked up an RCA cable with a ground loop isolator right on the output of my cd player before the amp and that worked for me.

Describe the sound that was coming out of your speakers please. Before the amplifier, like in the trunk... or right off the cd player, hence, behind the dash?

Its ground noise. Its a good chance you have a bad ground and just couldnt hear the high pitch wine before because its outside the frequency response of the subwoofers. Reground the amp to an unpainted piece of metal and make sure its screwed down tight. That will probally fix your problem and save you money because you wont need the filter.

Ravendarat, is right save your money, all a ground loop isolator is, is a band-aid for a problem that can be a simple fix, simply check your grounds to make sure that they are grounded well , especially make sure there is no paint, an have your ground, grounded to the chassis

If we learn from each success and
each failure, then we can improve ourselves
