How's it going everybody, i just have a couple quick questions. does the Factory Blaupunkt MP3 deck have pre-amp outputs?

Secondly, If the  Blaupunkt MP3 deck that came with the car doesn't have any pre-amp outs, then I will be looking to install my other deck (a kenwood MP522) into the my Focus, which the guy at Circuit City said is not an easy task. I bought the wireing harness and the installation bracket, but he spoke about the need to shave pieces off the bracket in order to allow the deck to flip down.

Does anyone have any experience with this and if so can you give me some tips on what i should do?

Thanks.

Factory radios do not have RCA jack out puts.

sometimes a little modification is required inorder to make the radio fit perfect into a car.  you might need to shave a little off the kit to allow it to flip all the way.  nothing to be worried about.  nothing major or hard to do.

i would first install it w/o any modifications to see how it would work and by how much it hits the kit when it flips if any.  then you can use a dremel to shave it off little by little.

I just put a 12" sub in the back of my '03 Ford Focus.  The blaupunkt does NOT have pre amps, but the good news is that there is a LOT of room behind the unit for a line output converter box if you decide to splice it into the wiring harness (which I did.)  I like the system in the focus...pretty good sound for a knock-around car.  Something you might want to think about, as I am having to tackle this problem right now:  The roof liner...it's going to rattle like no body's business, right over the rear seats.  The trunk will have a rattle too, but that's more noticable outside the car.  The roof is driving me crazy though, so be prepared to have to use some sound dampening.  Also, something I noticed:  If your ford is an automatic, there's a cut out in the floor panel for where the clutch would have come in, had it been a manual.  The cut out is covered by a plastic plate. This was the place I drilled to get my power wire up and out into the engine compartment.  This brings you out about a foot below the battery, right behind it, underneath the fuse box.

Hope that helps a bit.
