Soldering?

Can any of you guys give me tips on how to solder. Right now im trying to but it does not seem to be working. I put the solder gun on the wire and then put the solder next to it on the wire but it wont melt. Maybee my solder is to thick. Its .062" diameter and melts al 464 deg f  95% tim 5% antimony

Depending on how thick the wire that your soldering, the solder might not melt. If the wire is really thick it could be dissipating the heat. You can actually touch the solder to the tip of the gun where its touching the wire.

Make sure you do not use the LEAD FREE solder core as it is crap to work with. I use the 1.5 mm stuff with a cordless soldering iron and I have no problems with the solder connections.

Then I would say it's your soldering iron. You need one of those cordless, butane irons........ they are the best thing since automatic wire strippersSoldering? - Last Post -- posted image.

you did put solder on the tip of the gun first right? because if u do it won't conduct the heat good and ur wire will never heat up to the right temperature
