i just got a rockfordfosgate 1501 bd amp. it says recommended wire 4 gage. people on here are telling me to get 2 gauge. my question is will 2 gauge fitit says "an recommend up to a 4 awg" what does that mean? an will a 2 gauge fit?

that means that the amp terminals will accept 4 gauge wire and that it recommends 4 gauge because of the amount of amps you are going to be pulling with that amplifier.  the more amps you pull the bigger your wire should be

so should i get a 4 gauge or go with 2 gauge. or will the 2 gauge over heat an be to mauch for this amp? what would u suggest?

a 2 gauge will not make a heat diff. so if u can fit it then you can.

2 guage will not "deliver" more current, it can just handle more current than 4 guage. so if you draw the same current through both wires, the 2 guage will deliver more efficiently(with less heat as well). Think of a garden hose and a fire hose, if you put the same amount of water through both, the water would flow better through the fire hose since it's thicker.

with that amp 4 ga is more than enough for almost any car you can get.
