Is there a simple inline amp that I can add to get more volume out of an AUX jack?  I spliced into the AUX with the rca audio outs of my dvd player and I have to turn the volume way up to get anything?

dvd's are recorded at a low volume thats why the volume difference. try it at home, watch tv at a comfortable level and then at the same volume play a dvd. see if you can hear the difference. remember DON'T TOUCH THE VOLUME.

I don't think that is it. I want to say on my home system it is actually the opposite.

I wonder if it's that I connected a line level connection to the jack and it is intended for a headphone type input where you can control the volume on the device you've plugged in (eg. Ipod?).  I think I have seen before amps for plugging in headphone and wonder if something like that might work?
