LED brightness

Is the typical mcd @ mA the brightness of the LED? I'm want an LED with a soft/medium glow to install in the air vents. I don't want it to be too bright, but I want it to be noticeable. What would the specs be for an LED of this type?

Yes the MCD is the level of light output of the LED. You would simply purchase a standard LED, and not one of those super bright LED's on the market. There are two types of viewing * defused * angle of LED's. The standard LED has a viewing aspect range of 15-20' others have off view up to 60'. This will affect the *appearence* of how bright the LED is on, a off angle axxis. The resistor value used will also affect the overall service life, and brightness of the LED. A standard LED requires 20 mA. Others can sustain 30 mA on a continous basis. The housing in which the LED is encased will also affect the reflective light from the LED. There are recessed concave holders, and silver mirrored holders. Both of them will make the *appearance* of the LED to be more focused and brighter. Regards EVIL Teken . . .
