Hello All...

I am going to install an aftermarket sub and amp into my Mach system in my 2001 Ford Escape.  The Stock Sub isn't all that good.  I am going to use the inputs to the factory amp to get my signals required to run my aftermarket amp, with exclusion of power and ground of course.  Does anyone have the pinout for the harness that attaches to the amp so I can use the wires I need?

Thanks!!

I would say check out the stock sub location, see what wires/colors are there-then match it up at the amp.

did anyone figure out the wiring pinout cause I want to do the same thing. I've done it b4 and even kept the original stock amp. I was only able to run a mono RCA out to my amp though. Any Ideas? Escape Owners

I need help with this one:
I need to figure out this AMP Block with a code >PBT-GF30< there are two with that code.
Okay I have been testing that stinky SubW block or Plug on the back of the 6 disc changer in my 2001 ford escape extensively. Here is a diagram before I start posting.
2001 Ford Escape SubW Wiring Diagram -- posted image.
So in the diagram you can see the pin numbers listed.
-Can anyone help me make heads or tails of what wire becomes what wire for an RCA to a sub amp?
-Are these four pins stereo or mono?
-what does each pin do? How do I hook an Amp to them?
I have tested pins 5 thru 8 like crazy. Everything minus an oscilloscope.
Results;
With headphones listening to the sound:
Pin 5 Common w/
Pin 6 = It's okay clear almost loudest
Pin 7 = Nothing
Pin 8 = Makes pop on contact then nothing.
Pin 6 Common w/
pin 5 = loudest slightly less than pin 7
pin 7 = Loudest
pin 8 = Quieter
Pin 7 Common w/
pin 5 = Nothing
pin 6 = Loudest
pin 8 = Makes pop on contact then nothing.
Pin 8 Common w/
pin 5 = makes pop on contact then nothing.
pin 6 = music at this one but not the loudest
pin 7 = Makes pop on contact then nothing.
Moving on I tested the DC voltage of each pin with a common car ground:
Pin 5 = -0.02 V
Pin 6 = 4.8 V
Pin 7 = -0.02 V
Pin 8 = 7.2 V
Next i tested the voltage compared to each pin:
Pin 5 Ground
Pin 6 = 4.85 V
Pin 7 = Nothing
Pin 8 = 7.21 V
Pin 6 Ground
Pin 5 = -4.85 V
Pin 7 = -4.85 V
Pin 8 = 2.36 V
Pin 7 Ground
Pin 5 = Nothing
Pin 6 = 4.85 V
Pin 8 = 7.21 V
Pin 8 Ground
Pin 5 = -7.21 V
Pin 6 = 4.85
Pin 7 = -7.21 V
Next I tested the ohms of the pins while the desk was off:
Pin 5 & 6 = 41 kohms
Pin 5 & 7 = .497 kohms
Pin 5 & 8 = 53.8 kohms
Pin 6 & 7 = 40.5 kohms
Pin 6 & 8 = 53.5 kohms
Pin 7 & 8 = 53 kohms
Next I tested the ac current with ground lead of the DMM to the car ground.
pin 5 = nothing
pin 6 = music movement on the anologue display
pin 7 = nothing
pin 8 - nothing
Next I took the individual wires that lead to the stock sub amp and pluged them in to the corresponding pins they normally go into. Then i tried unpluging different ones to see what happens:
There are four wires that lead to the stock amp:
Grey/black = pin 4
Black = pin 3
GREEN/ Black = pin 2
Blue/Red = pin 1
If i unplug-
Pin 1 = halfs sound amplitude to sub
Pin 2 = music quits to sub but some faint faint poping of some kind
Pin 3 = Nothing Changes in sub.
Pin 4 = No sound to sub.
So can anyone figure out how to hook up STEREO or DUAL mono RCAs to the AMP >PBT-GF30< block plug on the back of the 6 disc CD changer or sound system of the newer fords?

I have hooked an Alpine 1507 amp setup on mono mode through a single RCA running off the stock deck from pins 6 & 7 before, but I had to turn the gain up on my amp and my 900 watts RMS eventually fryed my square Kicker SoloBaric 10" S7 Rated for 600 watts RMS.
Now I just want to hook up everything with max power through the preouts/RCAs added off the back of the stock deck.

I believe the output from the amp block of the stock ford Changer stereo is a balanced preout RCA design.

Any Ideas?

Okay I am really getting a good post going here to me from me.   Greeaat.
LINE CONVERTER METHOD
I just hooked up my sub two different ways. I bought a line converter and tried connecting through RCAs off the rear speakers. It sucked. I didn't get much low bass for some reason, but i did get pretty good mid range bass. Lame.
PROS:
-Good quality sound running through RCAs
-More true stereo RCAs
-Good Hitting mid range
CONS:
-Bad sounding deep bass
-Isn't as loud as the stock amp block pins
-Bulky converter box in the DIN bay
STOCK AMP BLOCK METHOD
The best way I have found to hook up to the stock deck to an after market amp is to use the open pins on the amp block on the back of the stock deck. I have found pins 6 and 7 to work great in a MONO situation. This still isn't as good as an aftermarket deck, but it works the best. Pin 6 becomes the center pin on an RCA wire.
PROS:
-Can use both the stock amp and sub & the aftermarket amp and sub.
-DSP "Drivers seat" works as a bass boost for louder SUB.
CONS:
-Although louder it still isn't comparable to an aftermarket decks preouts.
-You have to figure out how to connect RCAs to pins on the deck.
-If this method is used a GIANT Teradactyl will attack your car when driving. (really)
So If you can do it and stock deck is your only way you have to go I'd choose running one single mono RCA off the stock decks AMP block shown in the above digram. You can split it to get two RCAs if you need right at the amp.
==============================
STILL LOOKING FOR IDEAS ON IF THE AMP BLOCK IS A BALANCED SYSTEM OR UNBALANCED??
ALSO LOOKING AT HOW TO CONNECT STEREO RCAS TO THE AMP BLOCK PINS?
Thanks
