Does anyone have a diagram or know the colors of the AM Stereo?

We are installing a In-Dash DVD and do not have a diagram identifying the colors.

2 Black

1 Dark Green

1 Yellow

It may have more wires directly into the stereo, but we haven't pulled out the dash to identify it completely.

If there is only one speaker wire, how do you wire that with positive and negative on the new DVD Player?

Any help would be great!

Thanks

I have 2 69's

Nor been apart for a while, but you do not remove the dash to change the radio, just take out the ash tray and some ductwork, comes out from behind.

Speakers, the return path was thru the chassis, so you MUST run all new wire.  The factory power wires to the radio are way too small for any kind of moden radio, you will need to run new ones, there will be spade terminals on fuse block marked ingition and accesory, you can use them.  The speakers are not much, and are 10 ohm anyway, they have to be replaced.

Alternator whine will be a problem, you will need a coax type alternator lead filter, and also probablly a good filter at the radio.

Please do not butcher this car like someone did one of mine before I got it.

So, what about illumination?

My friend is restoring the car itself, but we are adding sound to it.

We made a custom enclosure for the stereo to be mounted on the front center floor councel, not to cut or trash anything.  lol

Thanks

IF (big if) the yellow wire is the dash lights.  However, I know for sure one of them is, you can will have to use a volt meter or trouble light to know for sure.  With key off, pull out head lamp switch, then turn Cw for max brightness, the wire with 12 volts may be used for the lamp input of the radio.
