I have installed a sidewinder alarm into a 95 240SX SE.  I tapped most of the connections at the OEM anti-theft module.

The alarm locks and unlocks, but somehow the lock/unlock button doesn't work anymore.

There was one wire which is the unlock, that I had cut, and just connected it straight to the alarm wire.  The lock wire I didn't cut I just tapped into it.. just because I had enough space.

But I am not sure if that cut wire would cause lock and unlock from the button to both not work at all?

Also the DEI always applies +12V to other wire when locking unlocking, did it possibly blew a fuse or something.

you usually tap into a circuit doing KE not cut the circuit and make a direct connection...put the wiring back the way it was on the line you cut and tap into it like you did the ohter wire...this should remedy the problem...unless you have reverse polarity doorlocks, which of course would account for why both sides of the switch went down when you cut one wire.... in this case you'll need a relay module....
