MB Quart Components

I'm going to install a set of MB Quart QSD-216s into custom kick panels in my Dodge Dakota.  I think the speakers power rating is 90-170 watts.  I guess the 90 is supposed to be the RMS and the 170 is peak power where you don't really want to exceed that or you risk damaging the speakers, is that correct?  Also, I was going to power them with a PPI amp that puts out 125x2 into 4 ohm RMS.  Is that too much power for these speakers, just right, or not enough?  I just need these to be loud and clear at the same time.  From what I understand they sell for about $1,000 and are pretty much top of the line.  They will be the only speakers in my truck and will be keeping a JL Audio 12W7 sub company.  The sub will have the recommended 750 watts RMS powering it, so I imagine in my small truck cabin, the bass will be very loud.  I'm also dynamatting most of the truck with Dynamat Extreme.  Thanks for any input in advance!  Plan, Research, Do

125 watts is perfect for those components.  The power rating of 90-170 is the target RMS range and indicates the power ratings that produce optimum operating conditions.  You can operate those speakers with any amplifier power up to 170 watts RMS per channel.  The PPI is a good choice, IMO.Support the12volt.com

I too have a dodge dakota. I am building a box this weekend to house 4 jl audio 12 w-3's. I also have a set of mb quarts, however mine are not top of the line, they are mid line model. They are recomended to have 70-160 watts. I have then getting about 150 watts per channel and they sound damn damn damn good. I think that if you get adeqeute power to those suckers you will be a very happy man.
