hows this sound?

ok i was thinking today of a killer setup how would this sound??? .....

ok have a pyramid type box with a Jl 13.5 W7 at the top then 1 step down 2 W6 12s then 2 W3 10s then 2 W0 8s

then in the front front have 2 kappa 6.5 components in custom kicks with 1 tweeter for each of the 2 so 2 tweets and 4 6.5s and 2 6.5 coax in the back depending on the car.. im thinkin suv here... then in the back on both sides have the amps split and flush mounted to the sides with all jl amps through out and to top it off an eclipse deck the 84XX hows that sound???....with proper wiring and power of course.... and xtra alts. and bats.

Thats extreem.  Be shure you have a different amp for each pair of subs, and be shure the amps have subsonic x-overs that are fully selectable.   So you can run your 8's at 200-100 ,    10's st 100-75 , 12w6's 75-50,  12w7 50 down.

There is a 99% chance it will sound like ass, and you will be sad that you wasted all that money.    2 JLw7 12's will be all you need, ,  and you could fit the 8's in there too, , but closer to the front of the truck, , ,like under your dash or sumthin.

Funny, that was my thought exactly.  Multiple drivers may sound like a good idea on paper, but usually it is something best left on paper... unless you have LOTS of money and TIME to try different setups, speaker placements, enclosures, crossover points, etc. etc. etc. and you have the proper test equipment...  A big headache that a nice pair of 12's and a good set of mid-woofers would make unnecessary.

I forgot about the alpine cars haha, , , , ya they did that, it does sound sweet in the Acura RSX  it came to our shop last summer, it sounded sweet, ,i believe it had 2 10's and 2 15's.

I personaly have done a few systems like this, and what my ears picked up was the peaks at the x-over points.   When the signal came close the the point, it would get alot louded at just that 1 point, , it was very very hard to get a flat responce.   This was between 2 12's and 2 15's.  Im shure i could have gotten it sounding better if i had many days to work on porting, and all that fun stuff, but i generally have never had that kind of time.

Since its your own stereo, you will have weeks, months, even years to fine tune it.

But what i tryed to say earlier is that it won't be worth the extra money and effort, in my opinion, ,  the very most i would do is 2 13.5's, and 2 10"s, it should turn out pretty darn good if you have lots of time to play with it.
