hi

i have a early rockford fosgate punch 10 speaker how do i now which terminal is + or - the only indication i have is a purple mark by one terminal ?

Connect positive to terminals that are marked with a dot, to keep everything in phase.  Technically, the terminal is not really positive or negative, but just indicated with a dot so that you'll wire everything up correctly.  So normally, all positives to the dot and negatives to the blank one.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

And to double check you can take a small AA battery and touch the positive lead on the battery to the dot terminal and the negative terminal on the battery  to the other lead. If the dot is the positive, the speaker cone will move outwards. If it is the negative the speaker cone will move inwards.
