I am installing 2 amps in my explorer.  A mrv-t300 and and a mrvt-500.  I would just like assurance that 4 guage to the dist box and 8 gauge to the amps would suffice.  I used 2guage in my last vehicle b/c I got a good deal on a wiring kit.  Also my alpine 10's are 8ohm so I am running amp at 4ohm and was wondering how much diff in sound iI could expect if I went to 4ohm subs and 2ohm load.  Sorry for the length but thought I may as well ask all in one post.  Thanks all the site is great!

The wiring you described would be sufficient.  For the second Q, first make sure that the amp is rated at 2 ohms bridged.  I think it is not.  If it were, there may be a noticeable decrease in sound quality at the lower ohm load, but you are also changing speakers so there will be some differences.  But it would be louder, I'm sure.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

the amp's are only 8 ohm bridged stable i believe, , and 4 ohm stereo.  There before the 2 ohm erra.  I may be mistaken tho.

I think even the 35 series amps were stable at 2 ohm stereo and 4 ohm bridged so the amps above should be also.

I thought all the v-12 amps required 4 guage to operate properly?
