i have sealed sub boxes and i was told i could get a lil more noise out of them by adding polyfil. they said 1 pound of fil would be equal to adding 1 cube to the box. is this true? i was also told this would just make the bass more "boomy"     which is true

Hell no, that is not true. At most a lightly stuffed box may add up to 20% more volume. Whether you need to add any polyfil or not will depend on the size of your box and the amount of airspace your subs like.

Polyfil is only good in a few situations. Are your sub boxes built to spec? if so, you shouldnt use any. As auex said, HELL NO, you arent going to add one cube by adding 1lb of polyfil. Why would you want to add another foot anyways? If your box is a little smaller than it should be, then adding some polyfil might help you out. If the box is built to spec, or larger than spec, you dont want polyfil. some people say you can gain 20% others say 40%. I'm not sure what the real number is, but you sure as hell dont get 100% Good luck,
