1999 4-runner 12 setup

Does anybody know if the stock head unit of a 2002 4runner sr5 has preamp outputs? i ask because the thread starter had a 4runner and i was wondering if he knew  because the model years are similar.I never took out the head unit and i was going to put in a sub and amp soon. I wanted to know so i didnt have to take out the head unit and find out the hard way if there was a preamp output or not.  I hope there is!!!  THANKS

The factory head unit does not have preamp outputs. What you will need to do is buy a amp with a built in LOC, a crossover with a built in LOC and sub level controller (the best bet, I recommend the Crossfire CX2L + CFR1), or a separate outboard LOC with gain adjustment. LOC = line output convertor, it changes a signal from that of a speaker wire (high level) to a rca level signal (low level).Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
