Kenwood KVT800

Hey everybody, I'm looking to buy a new flip-up for my '97 Cherokee, and I narrowed it down to the newest Alpine 7" touch-screen DVD reciever (sorry the model number escapes me, "900" something) and the Kenwood KVT800 DVD reciever. My questions are: 1) Does the Kenwood have preouts for Subwoofers? I know it has front/back pre's, and 2) is there any reason I should go with the Alpine, other than maybe better picture quality? any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! xThumPx, Chicago

The Kenwood only requires a single wire bypass for video but the Alpine requires 2 wires for bypass + a sequence that needs to be initilized everytime ignition power is lost. The picture quality on the Alpine is much better than the Kenwood. The Alpine has the designated sub out on the unit, not sure about the Kenwood, but chances are that it does.Jeff

Hey thanks for the info on the bypass, that was really a huge determining factor in if I was going to buy one or the other, cuz I really want to be able to watch DVD's whenever I want, and judging by how you described the Alpine, I don't want to have to deal with that sort of process and, headache. I guess I'm just going to have to do some more research on the sub-preouts on the Kenwood because I don't want to have to go the long route to wire up my subs. No problem. The Alpine isn't that much work to engage the bypass, it's just that it's a two step process instead of a one step process.Jeff
