I purchased a viper 791xv and I believe it wasn't installed properly on my 2002 stratus rt. The dual stage shock sensor does not work. The only time the alarm will go off is if a system goes by or thunder. If you go up to the car and shake it back and forth nothing happens which makes no sense to me. I'm some what new at this but isn't the 791xv supposed to have a warn away system. If I person gets to close it will chirp and if they shake the car or send vibrations through it shouldn't the alarm go off? any help would be appreciated.

The shock sensor is adjustable. It's probably set to the least sensitive setting. It may also be attatched to a part of the car that doesn't pick up vibrations well. Have the installer adjust it but be careful because if it's set too high the wind or heavy rain will set it off. Rocking the car or shaking the car won't usually set off a shock sensor. Try using your open palm and striking the front quarter panel (not hard enough to dent it of course) and see if it squaks. Double-check with the installer to see if he even hooked up the 2-stage portion also. Have him show you where it's located too, so that you can adjust it yourself until it suits your liking.

ok, the dual stage shock sensor means that if you hit the car lightly it will chirp and a harder impact will set it off screaming. If you want it to chirp when some one gets close you need a DEI 508d proximety sensor. Also a good shock sensor will not go off if you shake the car, only if you hit it. A car rocking is not impact hense should not set off the impact sensor. This is something that a good salesman would have explained to you ahead of time but sometimes salespeople ge into a funk and forget that not everybody knows the simple details. The installer should have demoed the equipment to you as well.

Well for one the installer told me nothing just basically handed me the keys. And I have found out that only one sensor is hooked up the other one does not work. Can anyone explain to me how to install the other sensor or what it looks like because I did not see any wires or adaptors left over in my box

rocking a car does not = shock

hitting a car = shock

if you want proximity warnings/full triggers, get the 508D. you have to buy it, it is not part of any alarm.

the shock sensor can be relocated, readjusted, reinstalled. sometimes they are tricky to mount. any adjusments (not additional installations) you want done should be free at the shop that installed it, if they have any kind of warranty. if they dont that bull sh*t and no one should do business there.
